DEFENDING champion Davao City National High School (DCNHS) seized its third straight win by whipping University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC), 25-15, 25-16, as the Philippine Volleyball Federation-sanctioned 12th Season of the Shakey's Girls Volleyball League (SGVL) resumed at the Davao Doctors College gym yesterday.

DCNHS also spanked Notre Dame of Cotabato, 25-13, 25-8, yesterday morning and Holy Cross College of Sasa (HCCS), 25-13,25-13, Monday afternoon.

Against HCCS, team captain Lyka Ebon and guest player Glenda Agang sparked the charge for DCNHS with support from Khen Consencino, Nicole Victoria Sasuman, Aubrey Ano-os and Jessa Monteposo who set-up plays for Agang who translated into attack points.

HCCS team captain Kristine Garcero, on the other hand, rose up to the challenge as they countered every point of DCNHS.

Ebon and Ano-os then fueled the team to go on a 5-0 rally to push the gap to four points, 14-9, forcing HCCS coach Mike Angelo Silva to call for a break.

HCCS coach Silva told Garcero, "Dili nimo kelangan kuhaon ang bola sa kalaban. Hatagan nimo ug chance ang imong kauban na maka-receive bola (You don't have to do everything for the team. You should give teammates a chance to get the ball)."

DCNHS went on an 8-1 rally courtesy of Ebon, Sasuman, Monteposo, and Agang to close the first set.

In the second set, Ebon stepped up for her team as she spearheaded the attack, capitalized on crucial errors of their rivals.

In other games, Tagum City National High School defeated Ateneo de Davao University, 25-17, 25-19, on the heels of surviving past Koronadal National Comprehensive High School, 25-22, 25-22. The latter, however, bounced back by hacking out a 25-21, 25-15 victory over CorJesu College of Digos.

HCCS, for its part, recovered from its second game loss by escaping past Notre Dame of Cotabato, 25-16, 25-23.

Elimination games resume today in the regional qualifying event organized by the Shakey's Pizza Philippines in cooperation with Balibolista de Dabaw.
