UM, HCDC axe wins

THE University of Mindanao (UM), Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC), Cor Jesu College and Davao Optima axed debut wins at the start of the 1st Abreeza Kadayawan Open Volleyball Tournament held at the Abreeza Mall Open Parking Lot, Saturday.

UM recovered from a first set loss to beat Cor Jesu College of Digos City, 22-25, 25-16, 25-16, while HCDC spanked Philippine Women's College (PWC), 25-10, 25-4, in the women division.

In the men's side, CJC beat PWC, 25-22, 21-25, 26-25 while Davao Optima survived past UM, 28-26, 25-21.


Ayala Malls marketing manager Ruby Ochoa, in an interview with Sun.Star Superbalita, said the tournament was supported by the Ayala Malls because it aims to promote health and wellness programs.

Ochoa said, "This sports activity is our first of the many more activities to come. We plan to do this annually because of its strong reception gained by the tournament," Ochoa added. (KRP)
