A TOTAL of 75 tankers will vie for honors as the 1st All-Ateneo Swimming Championships plunges into action at 8 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, at the Fr. Rodolfo Malasmas, S.J. Swimming Pool of Ateneo de Davao University-Matina Campus.

This was bared by Addu Aquatics Program head and swimming coach Rose Rodriguez during Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the NCCC Mall B3 Center.

She said three different teams from Ateneo de Manila University, Xavier University, and Addu are expected to compete in the said event.

She said the swimfest features the 13-14 High School, 15-17 High School, and 18-above categories.

Rodriguez said, "This event will help all of the parents out there to motivate their children to be more involved into sports activities."
University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) reigning MVP of ADMU in swimming will also see action together with swimmers Jessie Lacuña and Archie Lim.

Meanwhile, Addu's synchronized swimming team will also grace the event with a special performance during the awarding ceremony.

Rodriguez, when asked about the chances of AddU team, replied, "I can see potentials in our Addu swimmers but I don't want to give prediction for the outcome of the competition."

"Mahirap kunin ang title for the college divsion especially na experienced na yung participants from Admu and XU pero I know the high school division will be ours kasi wala silang delegations," she added.

Rodriguez, on the other hand, said the event is not all about winning but more on exposure for the athletes.

Trophies and medals will be given to the champions for each category while outstanding swimmers from each category will receive special prizes.

Tickets are sold at P100.

The event is organized by the Addu Athletics Office in partnership with Addu Aquatics.
