Bartolo, Miranda win HB1 run titles

VETERANS Emar Bartolo and Judelyn Miranda lorded over their respective rivals to crown themselves men's and women's 10K champions of the NCCC HB1 Fun Run held in an out-and-back course from NCCC Mall Davao Parking Lot A Sunday.

Bartolo, who clocked 34 minutes and 26 seconds, received a cash prize of P2,500 as he raced past Arnie Macañeras (34:51) and Gilbert Maluyo (36:10) who placed second and third, respectively. Macañeras pocketed P2,000 while Maluyo got P1,500.

Miranda, meanwhile, checked in at 45:24 in the women's event, beating seasoned Mona Liza Ambasa (48:51) and Dhime Rose Jaro (50:00) who wounded up in the next two spots. The three also went home with P2,500, P2,000 and P1,500.


In 5K, Michael Barrosa and Diana Mae Memoracion clinched titles. Barrosa registered 19:40 to rule the men's side over Christian Adarna (20:16) and Brian Lupio (22:16). Memoracion, for her part, outran Mae Gabaisin (25:42) and Roselyn Dupillo (34:13) with a time of 23:52 in the distaff side. The top three finishers claimed P2,000, P1,500 and P1,000.

Jesmar Lopez (11:59) sped past Mark Anthony Traya (12:20) and Joebert Maluyo (12:43) for the male 3K title while the female title went to Arlanie Unso who timed 15:12, besting Dimple Beresay (15:46) and Jonalyn Dorado (16:28) in the female category.

Part of the proceeds of this event were given to the beneficiary, Operation Blessing.

Vantage Sports Promotions under Kenneth Sai handled the technical aspect of the race that drew a total of 1,900 runners.

It was sponsored by Unilab, Procter & Gamble, NCCC, Selecta, Printlife Studio and Nestle Philippines.
