Father, son share tenpin top honors

THE father and son tandem of Manny Nierra and Manuel Nierra II reaped top honors in their respective categories in the just-concluded Blue Knight Classic Tenpin Open held at NCCC Mall B3 entertainment center Friday evening.

Manny toppled a total of 2,128 pinfalls after 10 games to emerge champion in the open division. He pocketed a cash prize of P10,000 while runner-up Sammy Talaboc received P6,000 and third-placer Diane Galendez got P4,000. Talaboc garnered 2,093 pinfalls while Galendez scored 2,037.

Al Langkuno, Celso Garcia Jr., Sonny Dimaano, Toto Delfin, and Pacquito Santos occupied the next five spots.


Manuel, for his part, rolled 1,896 in a 10-game series, to rule the Atenean category at the expense of next four placers Dimaano, Ray Snyder, Galendez and Ralph Martin for the Atenean category title. Winners also received My Phone merchandise.

Meanwhile, Rene Dalayon clinched the top qualifer while Manuel won the Blue Knight top bowler award to go home with P2,000 and P5,000, respectively.

The event was organized by Ateneo de Davao University High School Batch '76 and sponsored by My Phone, MeljoyZulueta of Home Channel Cable TV, JojoPuentespina, Oscar Canave, ReyBicuy, Casa de Amigos, Simeon Marfori, Jonathan Madrazo, and Ramsey Tancontian. (KRP)
