SOME 3,000 runners are expected to join the 15th Jollibee Family Fun Run that will hit the road at 4 a.m. on August 10 in an out-and-back course from NCCC Mall Davao Car Park A.

JTC Group of Companies marketing assistant Rescie Dillera, who was a guest along with Jollibee Matina Crossing restaurant manager Lotus Reta during yesterday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the NCCC Mall Davao B3 Center, said they hope to surpass last year's turnout of over 2,000 participants.

Dillera said the annual run aims to promote the spirit of family and fun.
"This event was organized to entice quality family bonding time, promoting health and lifestyle, and creating fun filled activities for all Dabaweyos and running enthusiasts," Dillera said.

The event features the 3K Kargaton (parent and 0-4 year old tandem), 3K kids, 3K open, 5K open, husband and wife, 10K open, and 15K open categories.

Registration fees are P700 (3K Kargaton, 5K husband and wife), P600 (15K), P400 (10K) and P350 (3K kids, 3K open and 5K open) inclusive of free shirt and race bibs, meals and raffle stubs.

Exciting prizes await all finishers in each category while lucky participants will go home with raffle items. Top finishers will also receive cash prizes.

Reta, for her part, said: "Part of the proceeds will go to the adopt-a-site project of the Davao City Water District. Jollibee Davao has been sponsoring this environmental project of the DCWD for the last five years so basically it's a fun run for a cause."

"It's a way for us to strengthen family ties plus it will be a new bonding experience for the family and at the same time introduce the kids to fitness and wellness activities," Dillera added.

Interested runners may register at all Jollibee Davao stores until August 8.

The Vantage Sports Promotions of Kenneth Sai will handle the technical side of the race.
