THE green light is on for the staging of the month-long She Futsal League girls tournament that will kick off at 5 p.m. Friday at SM Lanang Premier Fountain Court.

It will usher a series of futsal-football activities organized by the Maharlika Sports Development Institute Inc. and supported by Sun.Star Davao.

Organizer Edgar Te, in an interview, said, "First time ni siya sa Futsal Football Activities kay for the longest time walay nag-asikaso ani para mahitabo so gi-push gyud namo ni (This is our first time to conduct this activity in Davao because for the longest time no one took responsibility to make this event possible)."

He said a total of 11 teams are seeing action in the all-girls tournament including DDS Hinex FC, SOS Children's Village FC, Punta del Sol FC, Ateneo Mix, UP Mindanao FC, Ateneo Team B, Stripling Warriors FC, DDS Khanj, Ateneo Team A, Sakya Fc, and SOS Children's Village Girls teams.

Trophies await winners of the league.

Te also said MSDII will hold a separate football workshop slated July 20 at the same venue.

Philippine Azkals members Chieffy Caligdong and Yannick Tuazon will spearhead the football workshop.

"We will give the chance for Dabawenyos to spend one day of learning and play from these football veterans," Te added.

Caligdong and Tuazon will tackle the basics and rule of football while Fifa LOTG (Laws of the game) instructor and Fifa futsal referee Rey Ritaga will discuss the technical side. All of them will have a meet and greet session after the workshop.

Games will be played every Friday and Saturday afternoon.
