THREE Pacman-Digos pugs booked tickets to the semi-finals after pulling off unanimous decision wins against their respective rivals in the quarter-finals of the PLDT-Abap National Amateur Boxing Championships at the Digos City plaza Friday.

Suarez channeled powerful combinations to eliminate teammate Dhan Ariel Adolfo in their school boys paperweight division clash. Suarez set up a semis showdown opposite J Mar Jaga of Bago City, a split decision winner over Joe Paul John Tanudra of Cebu City.

Chriz Sander Laurente, for his part, beat Sorsogon native Mark Magas to face Jonjie Maritana of Tayabas who eked out a unanimous decision victory over Romie Evale of Maasin City in junior boys pinweight.

John Paul Bentoso, meanwhile, defeated Fernel Gaspi of Sorsogon to meet Isagani Llaban of Cagayan de Oro in the semis. The latter subdued Jay R Arcilla of Mandaluyong City via split decision in youth boys light flyweight.

But fellow Pacman-Digos mainstay Edgar Gaviola was not as lucky as he lost to Cebu City's Marvin Pomar in their jr. boys pinweight encounter.

John Edcel Prevenido of Calinan, Davao City also advanced with a walkover triumph over Gemar Balacuena of Sarangani in school boys paperweight event.

In other results, Zamboanga's Rennie Boy Ferraren beat John Mark Escoton of Leyte Sports Association (LSA) while Carlo Paalam of Cagayan de Oro (CDO) overcame Samuel Salva via unanimous decision in jr. boys pinweight class.

In youth boys light flyweight, Jovane Casim of Cagayan de Oro escaped a unanimous decision win over Marco Pomar of Cebu City to go up against Roberto Paradero of Aglayan, Malaybalay, a unanimous decision winner over Jose Peldiguera, Jr. of Occidental Mindoro.

Semis bouts were going on as of yesterday presstime. Championship bouts are set today in the tournament presented by Pacquiao in cooperation with Davao del Sur Gov. Claude Bautista and organized by the Amateur Boxing Alliances of the Philippines.
