Volleyball, basketball finals set

THE championship games for the Davao City Summer Sports for Peace Festival Collegiate Men's and Women's volleyball and basketball tournaments have been set today and on Friday, respectively, in separate venues here.

In volleyball, University of Mindanao (UM) battles Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) for the men's crown at 9 a.m. today at the UM Matina Gym. HCDC men spikers recovered from a first set loss to beat Philippine
Women's College (PWC), 16-25, 25-20, 25-15 in yesterday's semi-finals.

The UM volleybelles, meanwhile, spanked PWC, 25-11, 25-20, to arrange a finals showdow with a still undetermined opponent as the other semis game was still being played as of this writing.


In basketball, the UM Cardinals will play HCDC Lady Crusaders in the women's finals at 8:30 a.m., at the Almendras Gym Davao City Recreation Center while Jose Maria College (JMC) Kings collide with DMMA College of Southern Philippines (DCSP) at 10 a.m.

JMC edged John Paul II College of Davao, 87-85, while DCSP stunned Agro-Industrial Foundation College of the Philippines (AIFCP) Sailors, 104-100, in Monday's crossover semis. (MLSAbalayan)
