THE Columbia FC and Hooligans FC drew first blood at the start of the Philippine Sports Commission-Davao Football Association (PSC-DFA) Challenge Cup 2014 held Sunday afternoon at Tionko field Columbia FC blanked Philippine College of Technology (PCT)-Medvil, 2-0, behind the goals of Warren Ravanes and Michael Jay Fernandez.

PCT-Medvil coach Ramonito "Lalas" Carreon, in text messages to Sun.Star Davao yesterday, admitted Columbia was the stronger team, saying: "Kusog sila kay halos intact sila plus ang among forward na si Fernandez sa ila naman gadula. In fact isa sya sa scorer gahapon against sa amo (They're really strong `coz they intact and our forward player is already with them. He even scored against us yesterday)," Carreon said.

He also said that their team is undergoing changes with most of their veterans already studying and playing in Manila. "Sugod napud mi balik sa among team kadaghanan bata ug baguhan. Ang uban dugay na sab naging inactive (We're reviving the team with beginners and young players as the others had been inactive for quite sometime).

Hooligans FC, for its part, crushed Kilusang Magkaibigan Multi-Purpose Cooperative (KMMPC) FC, 5-0. Juven Benitez scored a hat trick and teammates Allan Rey Fernandez and Jerard Bieneza chipped in one goal each.

Games will resume on Sunday pitting PCT-Medvil against KMMPC at 2 p.m. and Hooligans against Columbia FC at 4 p.m.

The champion team will represent the city to the Davao Region Smart Inter-Club set in August.
