THE University of Mindanao (UM) men spikers kept their fiery form by spanking the DMMA College of Southern Philippines (DCSP), 25-21, 25-14, in the resumption of the Davao City Summer Sports for Peace Festival Collegiate Men's and Women's Volleyball competition at the UM Matina Gym Thursday.

UM, thus, posted its second straight win following a 25-18, 25-21 victory over the Ateneo de Davao University in the opener last Saturday.

DCSP toted a 1-1 win-loss card having beaten the Philippine Women's College (PWC), 25-20, 23-25, 25-18, at the start of the tournament officiated by Balibolista de Dabaw and supported by the city government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO).

The Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) drew first blood by escaping past PWC, 25-22, 25-18. The 0-2 PWC occupied the cellar of the men's team standings with 0-1 Ateneo.

Meanwhile, the Jose Maria College (JMC) recovered from a first set loss to defeat UM, 19-25, 25-23, 25-14, to enter the winning column of the women's division. This came on the heels of JMC's 23-25, 25-11, 15-25 loss to HCDC earlier.

The UM volleybelles, however, secured their first triumph at the expense of PWC, 25-15, 25-12.

Games were ongoing as of press time.
