'Langoy' set May 25

DAVAO City's young swimmers will see action in the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor’s Office (SDD-CMO)-initiated Davao City Summer Sports For Peace Festival Langoy Para sa Kabataan on May 25 at the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) Matina swimming pool.

Expected participants are coming from the Davao Coastland Swimming Team, Jerry Aquatic Swimming Team, Plunge and Swim Club, Barracuda Swim Team-Davao, Rodriguez Aquatics Swim Team, Red Sail Swim Team, qua-Tierra Swim Team of Davao City, Davao Red Sea Lion Swim Club and Davao Marine Merchant Academy Swim team, among others.

Categories to be contested are six years old boys and girls until 17 years old (beginners and competitive).


In a phone conversation with Sun.Star Davao, League of Swimmers and Coaches-Davao City (LSCD) president Antoinette Mendoza said the event aims to gather all swimmers in the city both from private and public schools to promote the sport in the grassroots.

“We are encouraging all swimmers to join lalo na ang mga nasa public schools. Na-observe kasi namin na during DCAA meet maraming sumasali from public schools pero wala na sila pagdating sa ibang competitions,” Mendoza said.

She added that registration fee is still being finalized. Winners will receive trophies and medals from the city government of Davao through. (SDD-CMO)
