THE Davao Durians Rugby Football Club (DDRFC) and the Philippine Rugby Football Union (PRFU) will conduct free rugby football training on May 19 to 23 as part of the Davao City Summer Sports for Peace Festival.

Rugby Development Officer Blessie Kate Delos Santos said that the five-day rugby football training is open for kids’ age 10-14 years old.

“This is part of DDRFC’s giving back to the community. We will teach the participants about our Get Into Rugby (GIR) Program including the basic principles of the sport, core values of rugby football, skills and rules of the game. We will try to have an actual game after the clinic,” she said.

Players from the DDRFC who just recently played in the Philippine National Games will conduct the training while PRFU senior rugby development officer Rose Mae Lanticse will give an orientation.

She said that character building and game orientation will be taught during the first day then basic skills and principles in ball handling, passing, support and communication will be tackled next. The tournament is scheduled on May 31. (MDC)
