Best Center cage clinic set May 5-10

THE making of the country's next basketball superstars will start anew as the Best Center Davao Summer Basketball Clinic will get underway on May 5 to 10 at the Ateneo de Davao University Martinez Sports Complex in Matina.

Best Center Davao commissioner Michael Chad Bouffard bared this in a phone conversation with Sun.Star Davao.

He said the basketball clinic is on its 25th year in Davao City and on its 36th year nationwide.


“We hope to gather more youngsters both boys and girls all over the region to participate in the basketball clinic that has produced basketball stars the likes of Kiefer Ravena, Chris Tiu and among others,” he said.

He said that Edwin Barber will serve as the venue master including four other national coaches.

The basketball clinic features five to eight years old for introduction to basketball while levels 1,2,3 and 4 for nine years old and above.

“Basketball basics will be taught for kids eight below, ball handling skills for level 1, shooting and passing for level 2 while advanced skills for level 3 and 4 including team concept and defense development,” he said.

A basketball tournament meanwhile will be organized after the clinic as a culminating activity, Small Basketeers of the Philippines.

All slots for the eight below have been closed while registration for levels 1 to 4 is still open at P2,800 for each participant.

Registration is at Addu Matina campus Gate 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
