IT is the week of The Masters! Yippee! Been waiting for this for months! If you are an early riser like me, turn your TV on to watch it LIVE. If you missed it, you can watch later, during the replay.
Who do you think will win this year? Who will wear the next green jacket? Who are your favorite players? I am a little depressed because many of my favorites are not at their best these days. But, the show must go on. And so, who am I cheering for? Besides Jason Day, I am cheering for Adam Scott, Bubba Watson, and, my forever favorite—Freddie Couples.
What did you notice about them? Mga guapo. Haha. What is wrong with my choices? You guys, in tennis for example, you go for the good players and the sexy and pretty ones, right? So why can’t I go for the cute ones in golf? Hey, they are great players too!
Feeling lost because your favorites are not the favorites of this tournament? Follow the PGA’s Order of Merit. By the way, among the top ten, my favorite is Patrick Reed. Why? He is seems so cute and huggable, like a big teddy bear, a ‘baby-bubut’. He reminds me of Phil Michelson ten years ago. If you don’t know what Patrick looks like, go ahead, google him.
As of April 6, 2014, the top ten in the FedEx Cup Rankings are: First is Jimmy Walker. Ranked second is Patrick Reed. Ranked third is Dustin Johnson. Ranked fourth is Harris English. Ranked fifth is Bubba Watson. Ranked sixth is Chris Kirk. Ranked seventh is Zach Johnson. Ranked eighth is Matt Every. Ranked ninth is Webb Simpson. Ranked tenth is Ryan Moore. Other notables: Jason Day, 20th. Sergio Garcia, 32nd. Rory McIlroy, 44th. Adam Scott, 49th. Phil Michelson, 80th.
More rankings: Henrik Stenson, last year’s winner of the FedEx Cup finals is in 99th place so far. And Tiger Woods, do not be depressed, he is in 195th place.
For the next 4 days, it’s a date. Early mornings in front of the television at The Masters in Augusta National. The coffee is brewing!
Philippine Golf Tour Update. The golf pros are playing in the ICTSI Eagle Ridge Classic this week. I forgot about this tournament. I thought the next one was at Sherwood Hills on the 21st. And so, as of day 2, Tony Lascuna is leading with a score of -4. In second place is Charles Hong with -2. Marvin Dumandan, Carl Santos Ocampo and in third place so far.
In fifth place are Elmer Salvador, Dante Becierra and Rick Gibson. In eighth place is Jay Bayron. In ninth, Frankie Minoza. In tenth place, Jhonnel Ababa and Paul Echavez. Other notables: Cassius Casas, 28th; Rufino Bayron, tied for 29th; Micah Shin, 36th.; Ramil Bisera 53rd.
The Apo Golf & Country Club’s third monthly medal tournament was held last March 28-30, 2014 and it had a little twist. Instead of the regular style which was individual play using gross and net scores, this time, Apo Golf Club had a 2-man scramble team play format. And, the players can form as many teams as they want, provided they pay additional fees, of course. This is a good idea to raise funds for the club. The budget for the tournament prizes is the same, but more income will be received as there will be more teams joining. Good job. Congratulations to the winners. Here they are:
Class A Gross Champion – Karloz Alba and Edwin Cayamanda
Class A Gross Runner-up – Tsikoy Saavedra and Edwin Cayamanda
