Selga, Carabuena top Araw wakeboard competition

MAIQUEL "Mikee" Jawn Selga and Towee Carabuena were hailed as champions in the 77th Araw ng Dabaw Zer082 Wakeboard and Wakeskate Competition held Sunday at Deca Wakeboard Park Davao in Barangay Tacunan, Mintal.

Selga thumped her rivals Alex Andrada and Nicole Balinas in the open women’s wakeboard category.

Selga impressed the judges by hitting various obstacles and presenting difficult tricks with her hillside backside 360 at the kicker and olay 900 at the tabletop.


In a Facebook chat conversation with Sun.Star Davao, Selga said that she felt great about her performance and looks forward to the next competition.

In the open men’s wakeboard category, Towee clinched the title by defeating his brother Franco. Franco settled for the second spot followed by JJ Hernandez.

Alet Mata won the amateur women finals against Guada Jayoma who came in second while Rhea Lane as third.

Cyril Miguel dominated the amateur men finals. The next two spots went to Janzen Panisales and Chino Air.

The open wakestake championship award was given to Arney Goy-Goy Arnado while the runner-up honors were awarded to Cocoy Jugerts and Rodel Rotkow Reponte.

All winners received prizes from Stoked Inc. The champions received vests while those in the next two spots went home with caps and stickers.

The event was organized by Zer082 Wakeboard Association Inc. in cooperation with the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor’s Office. (MDC)
