Team Asean retain ‘Araw’ bowling lead

THE Team Asean bowlers retained the lead as the Sunday Bowlers Club (SBC) 77th Araw ng Dabaw Open Bowling Tournament resumed Thursday evening at the Fairlanes Bowling Center.

Asean struck for a total of 3,500 pinfalls after six games while Dover and Sassy Boys also kept the second and third spots, respectively. Dover garnered 3,476 pinfalls while Sassy Boys scored 3,436.

The Gani 1 bowlers climbed from sixth place to fourth by rolling 3,394 pins as last round fourth placer Diagold dropped to fifth with 3,392.


The Homer surged to sixth from seventh with a total output of 3,353 pinfalls while Super Strikers crawled from ninth place to seventh with 3,332 pinfalls. Rounding up the top 10 were Jonzlibs (3,392), D' Adventurers 1 (3,320) and Fairlanes (3,276).

Trailing behind were Bravorm (3,276), Fighting V (3,242), D' Who Car Spa (3,238), Davao City Water District (3,224), K of C St. Jude Council 5831 (3,211), Motolite (3,185), D' Adventurers 2 (3,129), Gani 2 (3,044), Petronas (3,037), D' Realtors (2,935) and Dachea Men (1,066).

In the Masters class, Ivo Isturis grabbed the top spot by hitting 254 pinfalls after two games while Bong Vergara was second with 253 pinfalls and Kevin Dumlao placed third with 248. Female bowler Che-Che Calida finished fourth with 248.

Masters championship is set for tonight followed by the championship round.

The tournament is organized by SBC and sponsored by the city government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office.
