DAVAO City riders will show their wares as the 77th Araw ng Dabaw 082 Wakeboard and Wakeskate Competition plunges into action on Sunday at the Deca Wakeboard Park Davao in Barangay Tacunan, Mintal.

In yesterday’s Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at NCCC Mall Davao Bowling, Billiards and Bar (B3) Center lanes, Zero82 Wakeboard Association president Allen Aportadera said that this is the first time that wakeboarding will be a part of the Araw ng Dabaw Sports Festival.

“We have a growing number of wakeboard enthusiasts in Davao City and we are privileged that the city government of Davao has included the sport in this year’s celebration of the Araw ng Dabaw,” Aportadera said.

He said that the event features amateur, open wakeboarding and open wakeskate for both men and women.

“Rails, surface and composition will be judged in the event. A strict scoring will be followed which will be judged by some great wakeboard enthusiasts in the city,” he said.

Some 15 riders have already confirmed their participation in the event and one rider from Cebu City will also oin.

All winners per category will get prizes from Stoked Inc. The champion takes home a vest while the second and third placers will receive cap and stickers, respectively.

He said that the event aims to reach out to the Davao City community and hopefully discover more local talents that will be able to compete in national and international wakeboarding competitions.
