THE Tchoukball Association of Davao (TAD) will hold a Tchoukball Festival on March 22-23 from 4 to 10 p.m. at SM Lanang Premier Parking Lot C in celebration of the Mayor Rody and Vice Mayor Pulong Duterte 77th Araw ng Dabaw Sports Festival.

In the recent Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at NCCC Mall Davao B3 Center Lanes, TAD general secretary Cindy Matabalan said, the tchoukball festival features U18 boys, U12 mixed and open categories for men and women.

She said that some four teams will vie for the men's open titles while three teams will battle in the women's open. The U18 category will be participated by six teams and three teams for U12.

The TAD organized event will be played in a single round robin format wherein cash prizes, trophies and medals await the winners per category.
"TAD is grateful for the opportunity that the City Government of Davao has given us especially in providing us with a budget. We are proud to be included in the list of the Araw ng Dabaw Sports Festival," she said.

The tchoukball fest is in cooperation with Maharlika Sports Development Institute Inc., SM Lanang Premier, Zabs Buffet and Sun.Star Davao.

She meanwhile said that they are planning to join the National Tchouckball Championship on April 10-12 but are still waiting for the approval of the Tchoukball National Sports Association because of their suspension.

"There are challenges as of the moment but we are not worried because the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO) through officer-in-charge William Ramirez will give us an endorsement to prove that we are a legal entity and we represent tchoukball in Davao City," she said.

She added that they will also address their concerns about their suspension during the General Assembly of the Asia Pacific Tchoukball Federation on July at New Taipei, Taiwan. (MDC)
