SBC ‘Araw’ bowlfest opens Monday

SOME 20 bowling teams in Davao City will compete as the Sunday Bowlers Club (SBC) 77th Araw ng Dabaw Bowling Tournament will roll off on Monday at the Fairlanes Bowling Center.

SBC board of director Emie Orteza, speaking before the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum on Thursday at Promenade 2, NCCC Mall Davao, said the tournament forms part of SBC’s preparations for the 37th Annual Fedbob Bowling Championship set April 28 to May 3 at Mega Dover Lanes.

Orteza said the tournament is a seven-game-elimination series. Each team is composed of six players including one reserve player.


The top four teams will claim cash prizes and trophies. The champion will receive P10,000 while the next three placers will take home P8,000, P6,000 and P 4,000, respectively.

The first four bowlers in the masters game will get P1,500, P1,000, P 700 and P 500, respectively.

Individual winners will also bag cash prizes.

Sports Development Division of the City Mayor’s Office (SDD-CMO) officer-in-charge William “Butch” Ramirez is guest during the opening rites.

Bowling games will take place at Fairlanes Bowling Center on March 10, 18 and 20. The championship round is set on March 22. (MDC)
