Rody class A doubles tennis set March 15-16

THE green light is on for the Mayor Rody and Vice Mayor Pulong 77th Araw ng Dabaw Class A Doubles Tennis Championships that will unfurl on March 15 and 16 at the GSIS Heights Tennis Club courts.

Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) regional vice-president Juanito "Titong" Cansino Jr. said Tuesday that the free registration event stakes cash prizes to the winners.

The doubles champion pair will pocket P10,000, while the runner-up will claim P5,000. The losing semi-finalists will get P2,500 per pair and losing quarter-finalists will go home with P1,000 each pair.


Early registrants include the tandems of Boboy Diamante and Gaga Quiñones, Arnold Sarabia and Binggot Casal, Daniel Abad and Barry Vicente, Marlon Abad and Boboy Paradero, Ricardo Amazona and Dondon Ysulat, Arnold Dano and Jun Dano, Jo-ar Galinato and Ronel Balaod, Lando Ibareta and Jeco Lapiz, Juan Paolo Cansino and Gabriel Perez and Fritz Domingo and Mer Derecho.

Cansino said the lack of budget made him decide to forego with the age group competition and organize the doubles tournament instead.

The two-day netfest is backed by the City Government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO) as part of the Araw ng Dabaw Sports Festival.
