Team Sassy Boys win President's Cup bowling

TEAM Sassy Boys composed of Peter Morales, Aksan Amsirable, Alex Alanunay, Johan Alonzo and Baby Plata captured the championship title of the President's Cup 2014 held Saturday at Fairlanes Bowling Center.

Top qualifying team with twice to beat advantage Sassy Boys defeated Diagold, 596-594, in just one game in the step-the-ladder round to receive the champion's prize of P8,000.

Diagold composed of Nonoy and Jayvee Baluyot, Fritz Barros, Eddie Sagario and Jojo Gonzaga, came second with guaranteed cash prize of P6,000. The third place went to team Dover with Bong Vergara, Onyot Morales, Emy Dejiga, Anil Aluyan, and Helen Pugoy, while team Asean with Ipet Chua, Ivo and Jit Isturis, K-King Orilla and Boy Yu settled for fourth. Teams Dover and Asean received P 4,000 and P 2,500, respectively.


For the Masters Game, top qualifier and twice to beat Boy Fuentes recovered from a first game loss against Fritz Barros in the title match, 122-113, to capture the title.

Fuentes bowed to Barros, 129-95, in the first game. Barros took the runner up honor while the next two placers were Alex Alanunay and Tata Gorgonio.

After eight games, Fuentes placed first followed by Alanunay, Barros and Gorgonio. Barros, however, rolled over Gorgonio, 118-108 to face and beat the No. 2 Alanunay, 130-77. Barros came second in the titular showdown with Fuentes.

For the individual team category, Alanunay of Sassy Boys won the highest individual single (159) and highest individual double (288). Team Sassy received the highest team single (609) and highest team double (1,148) awards while Barros of Diagold won the highest individual average without handicap (128.17).

The president's cup was a seven-game series in honor of SBC president Joe Torres.

Meanwhile, in the SBC Weekly Single Open Bowling Tournament held Sunday, Kevin Dumlao was hailed as the champion after a two game series. Bil Haboc and Nonoy Calida held the next two spots, respectively.

All winners received cash prizes from the Sunday Bowlers Club.
