TOP qualifier Dianne Galendez beat Danny Usman in just one game, 177-170, to emerge champion in the Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba) February monthly finals held Sunday at NCCC Mall B3 Center Lanes.

Usman came second instead, while Joshua Disuacido and Art Gamolo settled for the third and fourth place, respectively. All winners received cash prizes from Datba.

Galendez rolled a total of 1,613 pinfalls with 30 handicap after the eight-game eliminations to grab the first spot and the twice-to-beat advantage in the step-the-ladder finals.

Disuacido, meanwhile, hit 1,606 pinfalls with 11 handicap and placed second. Gamolo took the third spot, 1,604 pinfalls with 30 handicap while Usman (1,571 and 10 hdcp) fourth.

Usman, however, beat Gamolo, 209-195 and Disuacido, 207-157 in the step the-ladder to fight in the titular showdown with Galendez, wherein the latter won.

Datba president Ian Neil Ancheta, meanwhile, said in an email sent to Sun.Star Davao that Datba will host the Grand Finals of the 2013 National Bowling Tour on March 8, 2014.

He said the top 36 bowlers who participated in last year's 14 legs will vie for the Grand Champion prize of P100,000, 1st runner-up -- P30,000, 2nd runner-up -- P10,000, and P5,000 for the 3rd runner-up.

The fifth to eighth placers will receive P 3,000 each, while P2,000 each for the ninth to 16th spots.

The National bowling tour is co-chaired by former Philippine Bowling Congress President Nitoy Tamayo and PBC Executive Vice-President Jaime Dychauco. (MDC)
