Dagaang, Fermiza win Ultramarathon

RONALD Dagaang of Team Titans Davao and Olive Fermiza of team Philhealth/Titans clinched the titles of the first Davao50 Ultramarathon Eagle Run 2014 held Sunday at the Davao Eagle Ridge Resort.

Dagaang clocked four hours and 54 minutes in the men's event of the 53-kilometer race. Aries Ngayo of team Kapamilya ABS-CBN placed second with a time of 5:51:22 while Team Marvel's Jun Lizada (6:00:35) came third.

In the women's division, Fermiza timed 5:52:00, beating Letty Booc of team Marvel (7:02:10) and Giegs Castillo (7:30:26) who finished second and third, respectively.


All top three finishers received trophies and cash vouchers from Altra Zero Drop Running shoes.

Team Marvel bagged the biggest delegation award with 17 runners.

Some 60 runners all over Mindanao joined the event including those from Koronadal South Cotabato, TRC-St. John, Team Matutum, BXU Runners Club Butuan, and Team Kapwa Davao.

The event, organized by running enthusiast Blue Tradio, was held to benefit the Philippine Eagle Foundation.
