THE Sakya Football Club thrashed Barangay Lasang FC, 19-0, to post its second win in the resumption of the 3rd DFA U17 Girls Football League Saturday at the Faith Academy Football Field, Marfori Heights.

Sakya FC’s Agot Danton led the scoring for his team with seven goals. Other scorers were Moira Isabella Calizo, Joy Dela Torre, Joyce Semacio, Andresa Fer Duran, Edwina Sofia Paredes, and Zuleika Yee.

Sakya FC assistant coach Jayric Iligan, in an interview with Sun.Star Davao, said Lasang needs more exposure in football.

“Maayo ang communication ug camaraderie sa among team. Nagkulang ang Lasang sa ilang exposure pero mayo pud ni kay para mas masanay ang ilang mga players (Our team has good communication and camaraderie. This tournament is a good way for Lasang players to gain experience)."

Iligan cited Ateneo de Davao University and Hinex as the teams to beat in the league.

Lasang coach Raph Pehid admitted his players were more trained in futsal than football.

“Mas naanad lang gyud ang mga bata sa indoor ug nanibago pa sila magdula sa dako nga field. Kulang gyud mi sa exposure pero padayunon namo ang pag improve sa defense ug offense sa among team (The huge field is new for my players. They are trained indoors but we will do our best to improve our offense and defense),” he said.

In other games, the Lady Knights FC of Ateneo beat Faith Academy, 6-1, to post its second win in the event organized by the Davao Football Association.
