DC tankers make waves

TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte -- Davao City tankers lived up to their billing by collecting a total of 11 gold medals, seven silvers and four bronzes in the ongoing swimming competition of the Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet 2014 at the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex here as of Tuesday.

In elementary girls 100 meter backstroke, Zoe Marie Hilario of Davao City clocked one minute and 17:94 seconds to race past teammate Angelika Chyn Fernandez (1:28:49) and Joana Marie Cabatingan of Compostela Valley (1:30:61) who settled for silver and bronze, respectively.

Davao City’s Rey Jacob Aliño clinched the boys gold by registering 1:19:49 at the expense of John Edward Pun-An of Davao Oriental (1:30:00) and John Marion Albano of Tagum (1:31:48).


Pia Alesandra Ballos (3:02:54) and Ryle Collen Regidos (3:05:88) of Davao City grabbed the first two places in secondary girls 200m backstroke while Liana Alexis Perdido (3:11:09) of Tagum came third with. Davao Orienta's Cristian Paul Anor (2:24:55) ruled the boys event followed by Elson Jake Rodriguez (2:39:46) of Tagum and Juan Antonio Mendoza (2:44:53) of Davao City in the next two spots.

Panabo City bets Bernice Anabelle Elestrio (39:61) and Angeline Jain (41:94) along with Camille Quimno (42:63) of Davao City grabbed the first three spots of the elementary girls 50m breastroke while Rassid Calimutan (39:93) of Compostela Valley stamped rivals Aaron Dave Alinsub (40:26) of Davao City and Daniel Buenafe (42:39) of Davao Oriental (42:39) in the boys class.

In secondary girls 400m freestyle girls, Sheannetelle Almira Fox of Davao City (5:18:17) lorded over fellow Dabawenya Katrina Nicole Aguelo (5:38:31) and Tagum bet Shanaia Liv Asiseo (5:55:63). The boys gold went to Anor (4:32:40) of Davao Oriental who outclassed Joseph Cedric Fox (4:34:32) of Davao City and Lorenz Dale Pacaña (5:06:53) of Tagum.

Davao City tanker Korinne Bianca Trinidad (32:13) topped the elementary girls 50m freestyle and 100m butterfly events while Aaron Dave Alinsub (29:38), also from Davao City, ruled the elementary boys 50m freestyle.

Davao City also governed the secondary girls 4 x100 m freestyle relay with the joint efforts of Trinidad, Quimno, T. Laolao and Aguelo who prevailed over Tagum and ComVal teams even as Tagum clinched the boys 4X100m freestyle gold.
