THE Davao City's boys secondary sepak takraw team secondary team is all set to play against defending champion Davao Oriental when the 2014 Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet unfurls on February 9 to 12 at Davao Del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex in Tagum City.

Davao Oriental defeated Davao City by two points in the regional finals last year.

Coach Eugene Mosqueda, in an interview with Sun.Star Davao, said: "“We have nothing to lose. As the reigning first runner-up, we are more challenged to win the championship. We have been training since December last year and I can see we have an edge.”

Mosqueda said that most of his players are beginners as only two regulars have remained. The rest have graduated.

“When we speak of experience, other teams have better advantage than us but our defense has improved a lot. I believe we have an 80 percent chance of winning,” he said.

The team is composed of Belly Boy Baysa, Haron Matindo Jr. and John Rey Villarosa of Wangan National High School, Mark Alejandro, Christiann John Altovar, Jefrey Dayap and Jason San Luis of Jesus Soriano National High School and Maa National High School’s Jannie Apus, John Malbert Comidoy, Aljay Dariday, Jason Dave Malijao and Roger Yudelmo Jr.

Ma-a barangay captain Oliva Cal and Ma-a National High School ports coordinator Margarita Dimaligalig provided sports equipment for the team.
