5 games set in Gaisano Grand Cup tomorrow

FIVE games will be up when action begins in the 19th Gaisano Grand Cup tomorrow (January 18) at the Gaisano Grand Citimall SkyGym.

The Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School will clash against St. Peter College of Toril at 9:30 a.m. in junior 2 division C while the Philippine Women's College (PEC) will collide with Southern Philippines Polytechnic College, Inc. (SPPCI) at 11 a.m. in junior 2 division B.

In the afternoon, the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) will test the mettle of DRANHS in cadet B at 12:30 p.m followed by the match between PWC and Precious International School of Davao (PISD) in cadet A at 2 p.m. and Davao Wisdom Academy (DWA) against Talomo National High School in junior 2 division A at 3:30 p.m.


On Sunday, Thompson Christian School will battle Davao Jones Academy in junior division 2 B at 9:30 a.m. The rest of the match-ups: UIC vs Brokenshire College (jr. 2-C) at 11 a.m., TCS vs Holy Cross of Davao College (cadet B) at 12:30 p.m., PISD vs HCDC (jr 2-A) at 2 p.m. and Davao Central College of Toril (DDC-T) vs St. Therese (jr 2-D) at 3:30 p.m.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP)-sanctioned cagefest also features a girls event as well as college men and women's divisions.

The Grand Cup, formerly known as the Gaisano South (GS) Cup, is the biggest school-based league in Mindanao in terms of participation.

Organizers earlier assured that the change of name, however, doesn't mean major changes in the league.

A total of 80 teams are entered in the tournament. (MLSA)
