DEFENDING champion Sutherland Banakons remained on top in the opening of the 2nd Davao Call Center Basketball League (DCCBL) held Saturday at Evergold Gym Obrero, Davao City.

Sutherland Banakons defeated Focusinc Gibbor with a score of 90-66 despite the 25-point advantage of the latter in the first quarter.

Coach Stephen Lumagbas of Sutherland Banakons said in an interview that they are really doing their best to defend their title even if it is not yet the finals. “Team work is important. Our team meets every Wednesday to practice. It was a big challenge being the defending champion but we did great today,” he said.

Focusinc Coach Caloi Garcia meanwhile said that they came up short in their trapping defense but will practice more to win the upcoming games.
The other games played were between Offsourcing Warriors against Teleperformance Tigers and Davao Call Center All Stars (DCCAS) versus Sutherland Vikings. Offsourcing Warriors edged out Teleperformance with a close 74-71 while DCCAS ruled against Sutherland Vikings with 86-64.

“We have shortcomings but we are optimistic to rule next,” Figueroa said.
Winning team coach JB Chua of DCCAS said that they won in the second game because of their teamwork. “We have distributed our players well and our performance showed that we have a great teamwork,” Chua said.
