HELLO fellow golfers and sports lovers! I have been away for a couple of weeks. It seems like a very long time. How is everyone doing? You gained weight? Your cholesterol problem is worse now? Or both? Hehe.

What is your new year’s resolution? Wait. Don’t bother telling me because I am sure you will break it anyway. Haha!

So, what is everyone fuzzing about these days? Usually, come January, people are talking about the next PAL Interclub Golf Tournament. Where is it going to be? I have good news, and I have bad news. For the hoteliers and the masahistas and a few friendly girls of the night, so sorry, it won’t be here in Davao.

And for the local golfers who are often being contacted by golfing friends from other places whenever they visit town, I have good news. The tournament will NOT be held in Davao this year. Hay salamat, right? Less worries at the start of the year. Whew!

This year, the 67th PAL Interclub Golf Tournament will be in Bacolod. For the Seniors, it will be from February 20-23, 2014. And for the regular men’s division, it will be from February 26-March 1, 2014. They will be using Negros Golf CC and Bacolod Golf for this event.

I have no news yet about the team line-ups. So many golfers want to join, and I am sure it is giving organizers a big headache right now. It is definitely hard to please everyone. Good luck!

News on the Philippine Golf Tour. Next week, January 14-17, 2014 will be the PGT’s Qualifying School for foreign golfers. What’s this? This tournament will determine who among the foreign golf professionals will be eligible to join the Philippine Golf Tour this year.

The first tournament on the list of the PGT is the TCC Invitational which starts on February 5, 2014. The next one on the list is the Solaire Open which starts on March 13, 2014. And after this, the ICTSI Splendido Classic which starts on March 19, 2014.

News on the Ladies Philippine Golf Tour. The first tournament of the LPGT will be held at Eagle Ridge Golf & Country Club (Aoki Course), and it will start on February 12, 2014. The next one is at The Orchard Golf & CC (Player Course), and this will start on April 16, 2014. After this, they have a tournament at Wack Wack Golf & CC which will start on May 13, 2014.

Last January 5, 2014, Apo Golf Club was the venue of Emcor’s Centennial Tournament or C-Tournament. It was a team competition wherein a pro and an amateur were paired together. The qualification was that the total age of both the amateur and the pro must be more than 100. I did not join the tournament because I could not find a golf pro whose age was 82 since I am only 18. Hehe.

Congratulations to the winners of the C-Golf Tournament held last January 5, 2014 at Apo Golf & Country Club. Here they are: champion – Elmer Salvador (pro) & Larry Pasquil (won via playoff), 1st runner up – Cassius Casas (pro) & Al Rey Ceneza, 2nd runner-up – Conrado Alferez (pro) & Alimar Etrona, 3rd runner-up – Edgar Salvador (pro) & Bebot Quito, 4th runner-up – Mario Estomata (pro) & John Servillon, 5th runner-up – Elmer Saban (pro) & Toshiaki Shinmura.

Apo Golf Club had its 1st Annual Flag Golf Tournament and Xmas Get Together last December 21 & 22, 2014. Better late than never. Been away, remember? Congratulations! Here are the winners: class A champion – Toffee Tionko, 1st Runner-up – Karloz Alba, 2nd Runner-up – Jorge Martinez; class B champion – Ian Dagatan, 1st runner-up – Olivia Lee, 2nd runner-up – Gendel dela Cerna; Class C champion – Felisa Weckler, 1st runner-up -- Motoya Mori, 2nd runner-up – Nelson Villamor; seniors champion – Osamu Ikeda, 1st runner-up – Mike Barnuevo, 2nd runner-up – Tony Gumapac; guests champion – Joel Martin, 1st runner-up – Jay Molde, 2nd runner-up – Amado Anonuevo.
