INTERNATIONAL master Oliver Dimakiling, who hails from Davao City, will hold a simultaneous chess event for a cause set on Saturday at Meralco, Ortigas Center in Pasig City.

Dimakiling, who recently placed fourth in the National Open Rapid Tournament, said in text messages that the activity aims to benefit calamity victims in the Visayas.

"I'm happy to be part of this event as my hometown Antequera, Bohol that was affected by the earthquake will be among the beneficiaries. Public schools in typhoon-stricken areas will also receive chess sets from Meralco," Dimakiling said.

He added that national master Jerad Docena will be joining him as guest players in the charity event that is the brainchild of Meralco Chess Club president Rolly Sol-Cruz.

Dimakiling and Docena will play with some 20 chessers. (MLSA)
