Dalayon bags 800 Club 2013 crown

RENE Dalayon emerged champion in the Datba 800 Club 2013 Annual Championship held recently at the NCCC Mall B3 Center lanes.

Dalayon bested twice-to-beat Joshua Disuacido in two straight games, 211-201, and 180-179, in the titular showdown of the event organized by the Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba).

Disuacido bagged a cash prize of P8,000 while Disuacido settled for the runner-up prize of P6,000. Next two placers Sonny Dimaano and Manny Nierra went home with P4,000 and P2,000, respectively. They also received trophies.


In the eight-game eliminations, Disuacido hit a total of 1,503 pinfalls to grab the top spot of the final round while Dalayon who rolled 1,497 was second.

Rounding up the top eight were Dimaano (1,484), Nierra (1,470), Danny Usman (1,464), William Galacio (1,430), Mark Fernandez (1,428) and Sammy Talaboc (1,419).

Talaboc outclassed his rivals in the first shootout for fifth to eighth placers while Dalayon ruled the second match to set up a championship game against Disuacido.

Meanwhile, Ian Ancheta was recently-elected Datba president. He and the rest of the new set of officers will be inducted on Saturday night.

Others who will take their oaths of office are vice-president internal Dr. Virgilio Magdale, vice-president external Rene Dalayon, vice-president executive Al Langkuno, secretaries Crystal Chavez and Leng Martin, treasurer Tans Bernas, auditor Alex Verdera, business manager Danny Usman, PRO Joshua Disuacido, VP membership Sonny Dimaano, tournament directors Thomas Convoy and Paul Rabe, youth director Joe Daigdigan and Mike Aquiatan and ex-officio Rameses Tancontian.
