THE Police Regional Office (PRO) in Davao Region belied the claims of former director of the Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU), Senior Superintendent Leonardo Felonia, who was accused in the June 12 murder case of Cebu-based businessman Richard Lim King, that police are pinning him down.

Felonia, who was charged with murder, filed his counter-affidavit before the City Prosecution Office last Friday through his legal counsel Caesar Europa, denying any involvement in the case. According to him, authorities were just making up stories to pin him down. [READ: Felonia claims police trying to pin him down]

But PRO chief-of-staff Senior Superintendent Camilo Cascolan, in an interview Monday, said the police do not hold anything against him and that the investigation just showed that he was involved in the killing of the businessman.

"When it comes to that, we do not have anything against him. Lumalabas lang talaga sa investigation na isa siya sa involved, siya kasi ang tinuturo ng mga witness. Let's just wait for the result of the investigation," Cascolan said.

When asked about the "reported differences" between Felonia and Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Vicente Danao, Cascolan said PRO 11 doesn't know anything about it.

Felonia insisted that the DCPO made false accusations against him. He also maintained that DCPO has no evidence to prove that there was a conspiracy between him and the other suspects.

One of the main contentions that the accused raised in his counter-affidavit was the allegations of conspiracy between him and three other suspects Paul Labang and siblings Rommel and Rodel dela Cerna.

Felonia said the DCPO has been selective in presenting evidence, noting that they chose not to submit the ballistic examination on the firearm recovered from Labang as it showed that it was not the same firearm used in the murder of King.

The accused also contested the credibility and admissibility of the extra-judicial confession of Labang and the Dela Cernas, claiming the manner by which they were arrested and was subjected to investigation was illegal, thus, the extra-judicial confessions are inadmissible.

Danao, when asked on the matter during the Kapehan sa SM at The Annex of SM City Davao, refused to give statement on King's murder case.
