867 shelters being built in Tarragona-A A +A

THE DEPARTMENT of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), under their Modified Shelter Assistance Program (MSAP), is currently building 867 shelter units in Tarragona, Davao Oriental.
Beneficiaries for this program, according to DSWD Director Priscilla Razon in an article published on their website, are families who have earlier lost their homes due to "natural or man-made disasters and those who non-recipients of any housing assistance."
Carmela Duron, DSWD regional information officer, said in an interview that the beneficiaries will be the one who would build their house and they will also be paid in cash through the Cash for Work worth P19,594,200.
"Sila ang mag-build para naa gani silay sense of ownership tapos naka-earn pud sila at the same time (They will be the one who would build so that they will have a sense of ownership and they are also earning at the same time)," she said.
Each family head will work for eight hours per day for a maximum of 10 days and they will be paid P226 for each day's work.
Meanwhile, P1,168,022 will also be allotted for 120 days of feeding program to 910 day care children in the area through their Supplementary Feeding Program.
Total budget for the DSWD-MSAP for Tarragona is P 80,284,200.
