Monday, July 28, 2014
MEMBERS of the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan from North Cotabato, Compostela Valley, Davao Oriental, Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte, and Davao City marched from Magsaysay Park to Rizal Park at 8 a.m. Monday to rally against President Benigno S. Aquino III who delivered his State of the Nation Address (Sona) in the afternoon.
Protesters criticized the Aquino administration based on what they see as the country's current situation regarding the economy, corruption, education, peace in Mindanao, and the contentment of the people of the Philippines with his leadership.
Sheena Duazo, secretary-general of Bagong Alyansang Makabayan, said that this rally shows what the U.S.-Aquino regime offered the Filipino people - four years of poverty, four years of increasing human rights violations including the neglect of the need of the people for food.
The Aquino administration is proud of the increasing GDP or Gross Domestic Product in 2013 and this year.
According to the rallyists, the increase of the GDP is a result of the services of business processing outsourcing such as call center agents and the number one is the OFW remittances. They say that this is a reflection that the Philippines don't run and don't have its own industry. The increasing rate of the GDP does not imply the decrease of the number of people suffering from poverty.
President Noynoy Aquino defended and retained the Disbursement Acceleration Program or DAP which forced the Filipino people to believe that he should be with the three senators who were imprisoned because of graft. (Khariz F. Lucero-AdDU media partner)
