AN OFFICIAL of the Task Force Davao has said that the alleged mauling of a Special Civilian Active Auxiliary (Scaa) member, accused of carnapping with frustrated homicide, by Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Senior Superintendent Vicente D. Danao will only be handled by the Commission on Human Rights (CHR).
TF Davao commander Colonel Macairog Alberto made the statement when he was asked about the accusation of Lita Cuizon, mother of the accused Floriano Cuizon, that the latter was allegedly mauled by Danao.
“Wala naman kinalaman yung kaso ng Scaa namin dun sa coordination na meron kami with the police. Let the CHR conduct the investigation on the matter,” Alberto said.
Cuizon’s mother earlier appeared at the Talomo Police Station to report the mauling incident, which he said happened last July 11. According to the complainant, his son was mauled by the police, particularly the police director, and was forced to admit the crime. Danao, however, denies this.
Davao CHR office-in-charge lawyer Junitte Rose Barroquillo, on the other hand, urged the Cuizon mother and son to file their complaint with the CHR office. She added that the statement of Lita and Floriano is very important in the investigation.
Floriano was nabbed on July 9 after victim Din Mark Jhone Campos Sios-e positively identified him as the one who shot him and took his motorcycle on July 4 at Sitio San Pedro in Catalunan Grande. Police said there were witnesses who also pointed to the accused.
