OPERATIVES of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Davao are set to file charges before the Davao City Prosecution Office against a suspected illegal drug pusher arrested with P180,000 worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation in Shanghai, Matina Aplaya Friday.

Facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is Maverick Zuñiga, alias Mikong or Mik-Mik, 24.

He was arrested after handing out a big sachet containing suspected shabu to a PDEA-Davao poseur buyer in exchange of a P1,000 marked money.

During the frisk on the suspect, PDEA agents also recovered four more big sachets of shabu and assorted drug paraphernalia.

PDEA-Davao information officer Noli Nephi Dimaandal, in an e-mailed statement to Sun.Star Davao, said the five sachets of shabu weighing around 20 grams are estimated to have a street value of P180,000.

He added that the suspect has been a subject of surveillance for months.

PDEA public information officer Noli Nephi Dimaandal, in a phone interview, said the bureau will file the charges against Zuñiga tomorrow morning.

"Dugay na kaayo na siya ginapangita pero idlas lang lagi kaayo, karon na dakpan na jud. He's been selling drugs for several years na, gawas sulod na sya diri sa siyudad until such time nakadawat mig report na naa sya diri, and so we conducted several months of casing and surveillance (At last we caught him. He's been in and out of the city. We received a tip that he's here)," Dimaandal said.

Zuñiga is currently detained at the Davao City Police Office detention facility while the recovered illegal drugs were endorsed to the PDEA-Davao drug laboratory for examination. It will be later used as evidence against the suspect in court.
