UM grad tops board exams for social workers

A GRADUATE from the University of Mindanao (UM) here is this year's topnotcher in the Social Work Licensure Examination.

Honey Jay Danao Bacus topped the exam with with a rating of 86.20.

According to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), a total of 1,110 out of 2,031 passed the exam given in June 2014.


Aside from Bacus, two more graduates from Davao City made it to the top 10 this year.

Angeli Calago Nacorda of Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) placed seventh with 84.20 rating, and Roshelo Almadin Caluyo of UM-Davao City ranked eighth with 84.10.

Placing next to Bacus is a graduate of University of the Philippines-Diliman, Kate Heather Faye Osalla Buenaventura with 85.40.

Third is Jason Neptuno Aragon of Universidad de Santa Isabel (Col de Sta. Isabel) with 85.30, followed by Merry Joy dela Rama Reyes of Philippine Christian University-Manila with 85 percent.

The fifth place was shared by Melhamar Pedarse Asani of Mindanao State University-Marawi City and Daisy Ayuson Carmona of Miriam College (former Maryknoll College Foundation) with 84.90.

Alyssa Mary John Penlac Abanes of Universidad de Santa Isabel ranked sixth with 84.50.

Aside from Nacorda of AdDU, Kris Adora Zayas Martin of Unioversity of the Philippines-Diliman and Maria Valerie Anoba Romarate of Saint Theresa’s College-Cebu placed seventh with 84.20.

Caluyo of UM shared the eighth place with Princess Lorainne Sampang Romero and Mark Philip Padon Tandog, both from UP-Diliman, with 84.10.

Cesar John Cascaro dela Serna of Mindanao State University-Marawi City ranked ninth with percentage score of 84.00.

Donavelle Sadicon Martinez, an alumna from Lourdes College, placed 10th with 83.90.

Meanwhile, the top performing schools are: Bicol University – Daraga with 65 out of 68 passed, which translates to 95.59 percent passing rate; Saint Louis University with 51 out of 55 passed or 92.73 percent passing rate; and Mindanao State University – Marawi has 109 out of 119 passed with 91.60 percent passing rate.
