Taxi meter, CCTV footage requests not heeded yet-A A +A

THE legal counsel for the taxi driver accused of spraying a chemical through his air-conditioned vent and robbing his passenger last June 7 said concerned agencies have yet to act on their requests for the taxi meter and the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footages during the incident.
Legal counsel for respondent Santos Descallar Diez, Rogelio Largo told Sun.Star Davao that the Land Transportation and Franchising Board (LTFRB)-Davao whom he requested for the taxi meter readings and the Davao City Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) whom they asked for the CCTV footages have yet to make a response.
"Ang sabi ng mga taga PSSCC sa amin is wala pa daw ang chief nila na si Francisco Villaroman kaya di pa nila ma-grant ang request ko. Dito naman sa LTFRB wala pa silang response. Mahirap na kung wala itong mga physical evidence namin laban sa accusation against Mr. Diez kaya dapat ma-present talaga namin ito sa fiscal," Diez said.
He also bared that due to the delay, they have already asked the City Prosecution Office to extend the deadline of the filing of their counter-affidavit to 10 more days as they won't be filing it until they have the physical evidence.
Largo earlier said that they are set to prove the "physical impossibility" of the accusations of the victim Jesus Famcion Dizon II claiming that Diez could not have committed the robbery within a limited time frame.
He said that the taxi meter could provide the time, date and fare readings that could prove that Diez could have not brought the victim to the Hillcrest Subdivision contrary to the accusations of Dizon who insisted that Diez brought him to that subdivision.
The respondent's legal counsel added that the CCTV footages from the PSSCC could provide vital information to solidify their contention against Dizon's accusations.
Largo is expecting to have the taxi meter and the CCTV footages within this week.
