NEWLY-INSTALLED Task Force Davao (TFD) commander Col. Macairog Alberto has appealed to Dabawenyos to abide with the security measures enforced by the unit for their own safety.

Alberto, in a press conference at Royal Mandaya Hotel, said they have taken extra effort to tighten security following threats reported in Cagayan de Oro City and other areas in Mindanao.

"Though there is no direct threat in Davao City, we cannot discount (the possibility) na baka yung sinasabing other areas in Mindanao ay kasamaang Davao City thus we are exerting efforts to prevent incidents from happening here," Alberto said.

He issued the appeal following complaints from motorists and passengers over strict implementation of checkpoints along national highways in the city.

"May mga naririnig nga kaming complaints and we apologize on what happened. We just have taken security measures for our safety. As what I have said earlier, we are not only training our men na maging professional sa trabaho nila, tinitignan din namin kung ano yung ikabubuti para sa lahat," he said.

But Alberto was quick to add that if there are complaints, he assured that this will be looked into. He said it would be better also for the motorists or passengers to formally file their complaints at their office.

"Our mission is to prevent and defend Davao City and its people from local and foreign terrorist groups," Alberto said, adding that he will hire additional civilian auxiliaries, conduct more training and acquire new equipment to enhance its anti-terror and security capabilities.
