CHARGES were filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office against a man tagged in the brutal killing of a lady at Purok Upper Acacia in Buhangin, Davao City on May 7.

Facing murder charges is Danny Boy Cabrera. He was charged after he was accused of killing Emily Encarguez Mendoza, 27, who hails from Barangay 76-A Bucana.

Investigation of the Buhangin police revealed that the cadaver of the victim was discovered by a certain Amy Salazar Seguira around 5:30 a.m. Seguira told police that she saw the victim lying lifeless in a vacant lot in the area. She then reported to the barangay chief Godfry Ganoria who sought police assistance.

Buhangin police conducted a crime scene investigation and found out that the victim succumbed to a gunshot wound to her head from an undetermined firearm.

Police report also revealed that a witness identified as Temotio Nalagon heard a gun burst the night before the victim's cadaver was discovered.

An officer of the Davao City Police Office Investigation and Detection Management Branch (DCPO-IDMB) who refused to be identified for lack of authority to speak, said the victim may have been raped as cops also found out that part of her genitals were burned.

Cops were able to have a lead on the suspect after the latter allegedly left a bottle of liquor and lemon juice along with the receipt from where he bought the items recovered from the crime scene.

Cabrera is currently detained at the Buhangin police station while his case is being handled by Prosecutor Maria Gemma Dabbay Tambis. (RSA)
