CHARGES have been filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office against two brothers tagged in a robbery incident in Barangay Lubogan in Toril last February 19.

Facing robbery charges are Roland and Randy Canton, both residents of Purok 10, Barangay Lubogan. The siblings were charged after they allegedly broke into the house of Romeo Cañada, a 48-year-old market stall owner, and stole the belongings of the househelp identified as Corazon Cambalon and a renter identified as Nonida Portogaliguiza. Based on the report of the Toril police station, the incident took place around 3 a.m. It was Cambalon who discovered the incident when she was awakened by the noise from the kitchen. When she checked, she saw that the backdoor was already opened.

Cambalon then checked her belongings and found out that a total of P289,000 cash were already missing. She woke Portogaliguiza up to ask for help but the latter also found out that she was robbed as well when she can't find her Cherry mobile phone worth P600 and P500 cash.

The victims then went outside the backdoor and found their emptied bags where the cash and mobile phone were supposedly hidden.

Police, meanwhile, discovered that the suspects may have gained entry by destroying the cyclone wire fence and used a picklock to open the backdoor.

Investigators were able to identify the suspects after the fingerprints lifted from the crime scene matched those found in their rogue gallery.
The case, however, was filed through regular filing as police have yet to arrest the suspects.
