A FATHER and his daughter lost P23,000 worth of cash after they were duped by the "budol-budol" gang at around 11:40 a.m. Saturday on Lim Street, Barangay Toril Proper, Davao City.

Based on a report from Toril Police Station, the victims were identified as Arcole Deocampo, 54, married, and his daughter Dafney Bacala, 27, married, residents of Central Binugao, Toril District.

It was learned that the two went to Sunscore Grocerama in Toril, when they were approached by a man and a woman who showed them wads of cash.

The suspects asked the two where the nearest BPI Bank was because they wanted to deposit the money.

The two accompanied the suspects who in the process were convinced to withdraw P23,000 from their own BDO ATM account along Agton Street while they were asked to keep watch over the bundles of “money” inside an envelope.

The father and daughter were made to sit inside a van with plate number LFF-855 parked along Lim Street and were asked to place their own P23,000 and valuables in a bag, which the suspects said they will bring with them so as to ensure that their own money inside the envelope, which they are leaving city the victims will be safe.

The two went away telling the victims that they will return to deposit the money they are leaving behind.

The father looked inside the envelope to find only cut paper when the two suspects failed to return.
