A WOMAN complained about a man who identified himself as a member of the media after allegedly extorting P60,000 from her for a prisoner's release.

The San Pedro Police Station said Bernadeth Davis Gementiza, 29, visited Tuesday her husband who was imprisoned in the station for violation of the Anti-fencing Law.

She ran into the man (real name withheld pending further investigation and arrest), who introduced himself as a blocktime announcer of a radio station.

In their conversation, the suspect asked for P60,000 in exchange for her husband’s freedom. The suspect told Gementiza that his godfather is the investigator in the case.

In another interview, Gerald Ramirez Gementiza, husband of the complainant, said he does not know the suspect.

PO3 Rizalito Clapiz III of the General Investigation Section of the San Pedro Police Station said they will arrest the suspect.

The writer had difficulty reaching the alleged blocktime announcer as of this posting Tuesday. (Jeepy P. Compio)
