3 monitored for Mers-Cov

GENERAL SANTOS CITY - Dr. Edgardo Sandig, head of the City Health Office (CHO) of General Santos City, confirmed that there were three persons from Soccsksargen who were onboard Etihad Airlines flight EY 0424.

The flight was carrying OFWs who were quarantined on suspicions of carrying the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus (Mers-Cov).

Sandig said there is one from General Santos City, one from Sarangani Province and another from Kidapawan City.


He added that the regional office of the Department of Health (DOH) sent the information to him.

The DOH ordered the City Health Office to monitor the state of the OFWs and assess their situation. CHO personnel are set to visit the home of the OFWs in question for throat swabbing.

Before this, Health Secretary Enrique Ona called on the passengers of the said plane to have themselves examined by a doctor to check on their condition.
