THE left hand of a statue of Jesus Christ has been reported missing Sunday dawn after the traditional “Salubong” or “Sugat” celebrating the resurection of Christ for the Roman Catholics at the San Pedro Cathedral in Davao City.

Right after the “Salubong” outside the cathedral, the Easter Mass was held inside during which the statue of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ was displayed where devotees can line up to touch it and pray in front of the altar right after the mass.

A long line of devotees did, crowding the statue.

After everything quietened down, the lay leaders and altar boy noticed that the left hand was missing.

Sun.Star Davao photographer Seth delos Reyes was able to take a photo of the statue while the devotees were still crowding around it when the left hand was already apparently missing.

Church administrators are asking the person who took the hand to return this as devotees regard this as holy.

The incident was not reported to the San Pedro Police Station.
