CHARGES have been filed before the Davao City Prosecutor’s Office on Monday against 11 individuals who were arrested on April 13 for alleged grave coercion and trespassing.

Police identified the suspects as Roger Blances Dapog, Marvin Bajenting Caballero, Baltazar Vergara Gaviola, Efren Empas Montibon, Virgilio Colonel Francisco, Marvin Somatra Alconera, Alfredo Vergara Gaviola, Debi Patos Delima, Aldrin Arabiana Albento, Pablito Vergara Gaviola, and Liberty Cañete Morales.

Tugbok Police Station commander C/Inspector Ariel Acala said the suspects were charged with
grave coercion and trespassing of the Revised Penal Code. He added that they were brought to prosecution office around 10:30 a.m. for inquest proceedings.

The suspects failed to present documents that will prove their claim on the land even when they fenced off the land and tried to stake calim over it. Recovered from the possession of the suspects were bamboo posts, 21 meters rope, two improvised tent, and one signage.

The suspects were charged following the complaint of Siu Eng Ang Sia, 58, a businesswoman, and Richard Ang Sia, both residents of Tugbok in Davao City.

Initial investigation conducted by Police Officer 3 (PO3) Narciso Potot Jr. showed that the complainants reported the incident to Tugbok police around 5 a.m. after the suspects entered their land, with Transfer of Certificate Title Nos. T-87320 and T-52585, without their permission.

The police along with the Matina Biao barangay chieftain Hilario Malaki and the two complainants arrived in the area and arrested the suspects who were barricading the farm and locking the gate using a rope on which they also nailed a board marked “No Trespassing Heirs by Maximo Coronel Lot No. 404.”

The suspects are now detained at the Tugbok Police Station for their proper disposition.
