A TEENAGER was hacked after he allegedly encroached on his neighbor’s area in Purok 4, Isla Verde, Barangay 23-C Poblacion, Davao City.

Jojo, not his real name, 17 years old, was rushed to Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) around 6 p.m. of April 10 after a certain Marlon hacked him in the chest with a machete.

Both Jojo and Marlon are among the thousands of individuals whose houses were razed by fire in the evening of April 4.

Records from the SPMC showed that the victim was fencing off the area where his house was built. Marlon’s house was also built next to Jojo’s.

As Marlon arrived in the area, he was mad at Jojo for allegedly encroaching in his area. The two had a heated altercation that caused Marlon to get a hold of a machete and hack his neighbor.

City administrator lawyer Melchor Quitain earlier said that the residents are prohibited to temporarily enter and rebuild their houses in the area since a delineation of the eight-hectare wide fire-hit area will be done for road network and drainage.

The City Government of Davao fenced off the area to bring order. Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) chief Ret. Gen. Francisco Villaroman said the elements of the Task Force Davao (TFD), Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) were already deployed in the area to ensure the safety and security while the survey and delineation of spaces for road and drainage is ongoing.

Barangay 23-C chief Wating Usman said he already communicated with his constituents regarding the plan of the city. City Hall fences off area razed by fire

"Naay uban wala miuyon pero gipasabot nato sa ilaha (There are those who disagree but we explain it to them)," Usman said.

The fire victims are temporarily housed in seven evacuation centers near the affected areas.
