CHARGES were filed before the Davao City Prosecution Office on Thursday against two alleged gunrunners in Davao City.
Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Davao City, charged two suspects, Ruben Gripo Cadigal, 45, and Jesus Victor Erno Capillo, 24, all residents of Davao City.
CIDG Davao City Special Operations team leader Inspector Francis Sonza said the suspects were charged with violation of Section 32 (Sale) of the Republic Act 10591 or The Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regular Act.
Sonza said the suspects were brought before the prosecution office around 10 p.m. Thursday for inquest proceedings, following their arrest on April 2.
The two suspects were arrested in an entrapment operation in Barangay 38-D about 7:30 p.m. after one of the two suspects sold a gun to an operative who acted as civilian buyer.
Recovered from the suspects were one caliber .38 pistol with serial no. 0620058, ten live ammunitions, two P500 marked money and 29 pieces cut papers.
Sonza said the operation was part of CIDG's implementation of Oplan Paglalansag, a campaign against loose firearms, and Oplan Salikop, a campaign against organized crime groups.
The two suspects are currently detained at the CIDG jail facility in Davao City.
