THE National Economic Development Authority (Neda) in Davao Region bared the four nominees for the chairperson and co-chairperson of the Regional Development Council (RDC).
Neda regional director Maria Lourdes D. Lim told reporters Thursday after Neda's Media Partnership Forum at the agency's regional headquarters that they have submitted the names of two public officials and two private sector representatives to the Search Office of the Office of the President.
Nominees from the public sector are Davao del Norte Gov. Rodolfo Del Rosario and Compostela Valley Gov. Arturo T. Uy while from the private sector are Mindanao Business Council President Vicente Lao and ICT-Davao president Atty. Samuel Matunog.
The nominees were selected by the members of the RDC.
Lim, who is also currently the acting chairperson of RDC-Davao (RDC 11), said they were nominated for the positions of chairperson and co-chairperson because of the leadership they have exhibited.
She said the chairperson may come from the public or private sector but if the chairperson is from the private sector, then the co-chairperson will be from the public sector and vice versa.
"They (chairperson and co-chairperson) should have the regional perspective and being at the helm of the RDC, it is expected that the decisions made would be equitable and fair for the region," she said.
Lim said they would usually wait for two to three months, sometimes six months, for the appointment of the President of who will be the chairpwerson and vice-chairperson of RDC 11.
"We have submitted all the documents needed and we can expect the appointment anytime soon," she said.
